Introducing: EcoSocialist Review: A Newsletter on Left Ecology!
This newsletter is a project of Capitalism, Nature, Socialism: A Journal of Socialist Ecology, co-edited by Leigh Brownhill and Daniel Faber (read our Journal welcome!)
Ecosocialist Review is devoted to promoting a more transformative, ecosocialist politics. We are non-sectarian, and are open to a number of political perspectives in Left ecology circles on ecofeminism, environmental and climate justice, eco-imperialism and neo-colonialism, abolition ecology, degrowth, anarcho-communalism, and ecological Marxism. Such approaches share a desire to address the root causes of the global ecological crisis and existential threat to humanity that is climate change and to advance theory and movements for the building of alternative post-capitalist societies.
In this newsletter, we will provide more holistic and integrated approaches that link issues of class exploitation and economic inequality, patriarchy, racial injustice, and imperialism to movements for transformations towards global political economies characterized by social and environmental justice, genuine participatory democracy, and a respect for human rights.
Our Mission.
The newsletter’s mission is to broaden our understanding of how capitalism is incompatible with a healthy planet, what ecosocialism means, why radical systems change is necessary, and to show how a more just and sustainable world is possible and is being fought for and won in communities across the globe. Our goal is to produce accessible, thoughtful, and engaging public education materials that help to inspire and support activism in communities on the ground and to expand and strengthen the ecosocialist movement as a whole. We elevate the voices of scholars, journalists, and activists on the frontlines of struggles for ecosocialism. We do this by highlighting and promoting accessible and engaging reports, interviews, news stories, graphics, art, games, tool kits, videos and other resources for the ecosocialist movement. We believe that providing popular discourse materials on ecosocialism and supporting the development of a globally networked ecosocialist movement are critical next steps to achieving a truly just and transformative future for people and the planet.
In Solidarity,
Leigh Brownhill and Daniel Faber – Co-Editors of CNS Journal
